Barney Gean Whitt

Barney Gean Whitt passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the age of 85. 

Barney was born at Novice (Coleman County) Texas on March 16, 1934.  He attended school in Baird and Ranger.  He joined the United States Air Force in September, 1952 and was stationed in Korea, Thailand and at Dyess Air Force Base, as well as other locations.  Barney retired from the Air Force in 1972 and worked for the City of Baird, Abilene State School, and Central Texas Opportunities in Coleman. He was caretaker of Ross Cemetery in Baird for twelve years.  He resided in Callahan County from 1972 until 1998, when he moved to Cisco, Texas.

Mr. Whitt is survived by his wife, Melba, of Cisco; two daughters, Tammy Dugan of Midland, and Becky Whitt of Houston; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great great-children..

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E Third in Baird. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Ross Cemetery Annex.
