April Michele (Kelley) Bowen

April Michele Bowen went to be with her Savior Monday, March 8, 2021, at the age of 52.

April was born April 9, 1968 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Ronald and Barbara Jackson Kelley.  She married Dean Bowen and the couple had three children, making their life in Callahan County outside of Baird.  April earned an associates degree and worked as a beautician, but the jobs she loved the most were working over 13 years at Callahan County Veterinary Clinic for Dr. Rob Harle and Dr. Monte Ancinec, and for Kirk Brown at Veteran’s Garage Door.  She was a proud member of Second Chance Cowboy Church.

She enjoyed making a life with Dean, and was his number one fan in team roping or anything else he took on. The couple raised quarterhorses, and she enjoyed watching Dean and the kids compete on horses that were raised and trained at home.  She also loved to lay out in the sun by the pool or at the lake for hours on end.  She was a loving mother and grandmother, known as Ma or Grammy to her grandchildren, and a mom to many who were not her children.  

She was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Wayne Brubaker, and a nephew, Jason Stovall.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dean; her parents, Ronald and Barbara Kelley; a son, Gary Bowen; daughters Kelli and husband Thomas Wilburn, and Jessica Bowen; grandsons Devin, Jason Alexander, Branson Alexander; granddaughters Kensie, Ryleigh and Lacey; a brother, Scott Brubaker; a sister, Donna Phillips; and so many more people she touched in a special way.

Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E. 3rd Street in Baird.  Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Second Chance Cowboy Church, 9005 State Hwy 36 W, Clyde,  with Pastor Terry Simmons officiating.  Burial will follow at Ross Cemetery in Baird.  Pallbearers will be Cal Lewis, Steve Bradshaw, Troy Hall, Thomas Wilburn, Lejay Alexander, and Gary Bowen.

Those attending visitation are reminded of CDC social distancing guidelines and masks are recommended for those who are medically at risk.
