Carlos Francisco "Frank" Gomez

Carlos Francisco “Frank” Gomez Lopez of Baird passed away in Abilene Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the age of 60.

Known by many names, including Frank, Honey, Pancho or even “Frank the Tank”, he was known for his love of spending time with his kids and grandkids, playing cornhole, feeding his roosters, playing wahoo, plowing and dozing and drinking cold beer.

Frank was born March 5, 1962 in Mexico City to Ubaldo and Alta Gracia Lopez Gomez. At the age of 14, he left Mexico City to seek the American dream for a better life.  He met the love of his life, Janie, and they married and raised five beautiful kids. He worked on ranches for 35 plus years, most of that on the P & W Ranch at Baird.

He was known as a devoted father, loving husband, and a dedicated worker who liked to “get the job done”. He was a cornhole champ, cockfighter champ, and most of all, Grandaddy Champ.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Janie; his parents; brothers Rafael and David Gomez; and a sister, Rosa Maria Gomez Lopez.

He is survived by his children; sons Jason and wife Ashley Gomez of Clyde, Franklin Gomez of Clyde, Ubaldo and wife Cassie Gomez of Baird, Carlos Gomez of Baird; and daughter Grace Gomez and son-in-law Ronnie Loza of Abilene; a brother, Luis Antonio Gomez Lopez of Mexico City; sisters Maria del Rosario Gomez Lopez of Mexico City and Sara Gomez Lopez of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandsons, ten granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private viewing.  Rosary will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E 3rd Street in Baird.  A memorial service will follow the Rosary at 3:00 PM in the Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home Chapel.
