James Claude Reynolds Jr., died on August 1, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born in Crockett, Texas on February 16, 1930, the son of James Claude Reynolds, Sr. and Alyene (Penney) Reynolds.
James graduated from high school in Buras, Louisiana in the class of 1948, where he played on the state football team. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, as a radio operator, a lineman, and a bulldozer operator. After his return from Korea, he met and married Dorothy Henry from Baird, Texas in 1955, and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. They bought a farm in the Rowden community in 1958. His career as a bulldozer operator, rancher, and mechanic lasted 62 years. He accepted Christ as His Savior in 1963 and was a faithful member of the Baptist church where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.
James was a loyal husband, father, and friend. He was hard worker and loved to laugh. He loved his cattle, dogs, and his land. He was known to many as a man with a gentle spirit who was honest, independent, and humble. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, reading, and watching sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Leta Gwen Talbot, and infant son Henry Lee Reynolds. He is survived by his wife, son Jim Reynolds and wife Crecia of Rowden, daughter Ellen Reynolds Steinle and husband Greg of Rowden, and daughter Janet Reynolds Flippin and husband Tan of Granbury. He has six grandchildren: Chris Reynolds of Greenwood, Texas; Colby Reynolds and wife Danielle of Boerne, Texas; Drew Flippin of Chicago, Illinois; Dalton Carpenter and wife Alex of Abilene, Texas; Erin King and husband Aaron of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Kiefer Steinle of Abilene, Texas. He has four great grandchildren: Sloan Reynolds, Ryder Reynolds, Samuel King, and Melody King. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Parker-Jacobs Funeral Home, 141 E. 3rd in Baird.Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, August 5, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Baird with a graveside service to follow at Ross Cemetery Annex.
