Joy Price West Mooney

Zelma Joyce Mooney of Rowden passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the age of 88. 

“Joy” as she was known to friends and family was born September 12, 1932 in Baird to C.W. and Nomie Bell (Dickey) Price.  She graduated from school in Baird. She married Jimmy West in 1949, and the couple was married 35 years before he passed away.  Two children were born of this marriage; Chris West and Cindy West McCleskey, who passed away in 1990.  Joy later married L.D. Horner, who passed away after 11 years of marriage.  She later married Wayne Mooney.

Joy was a cattle woman, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and especially a good game of dominoes.  She was a member of Rowden Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Chris West and fiancé Crystal Kirkland; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 10, 2021 at Ross Cemetery Annex, Hwy 283 North in Baird, with Wayne Lenz of Rowden Baptist Church officiating.
