Mickie Tennison Obituary

Mickie Tennison, 69, died May 4, 2020 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She was born July 12, 1950 in Abilene, Texas to Joseph Howle and Ethyl Bennet.

She graduated from Cooper High School. She married Doyle Tennison on September 14, 1968. Together they owned U Bar U Steakhouse. She worked for Sam’s Club and Eagle Aviation before retiring.

Mickie loved going to garage sales, reading and watching racing at Abilene Speedway.

She was the rock that holds our family together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always met you with a smile and hug. She will be missed by many but loved by all.

She was preceded in death by parents Joseph Howle and Ethyl Bennet. Brothers and sisters Bob, Enos, Jaye, Lettie, Nina and Larry. Mother- in- law Laura Tennison, Father- in- law Herman Tennison; and brothers -in -law Don and Doug Tennison.

 Mickie is survived by husband Doyle of Clyde, daughter, Laura Tennison of Clyde, son Michael Tennison and wife Aleta of Clyde. Granddaughter Bree Tennison. Sister Chrystal Barton of Abilene; brother Jerry Howle of Commanche. Adopted son Steven Kirkland and wife Brandy of Clyde; adopted grandchildren Garret and wife Sarah, Kassie and Kailey; adopted great grandchildren Ella, Luke and Gretchen.

Graveside service to be held at Ross Cemetery Spencer Price Addition on May 7, 2020 at 10:00am.  Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, guests attending this service are reminded to practice social distancing. Wearing of facial masks is recommended.

The family requests memorials to be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
