Wanda Mae (Raughton) Sims

Wanda Mae Sims of Baird passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at the age of 88.

Wanda was born April 23, 1933 in Stamford, Texas to Doc and Lilian Raughton.  She graduated from Paint Creek High School and attended Abilene Christian College. She married Ray Neal Sims, and worked as high school secretary in Alpine, and later on their ranch in Baird.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved dancing and watching her grandkids compete in sports. 

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Ray N. Sims.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Sims Farmer and husband, Ray, of Midland; her son, Boxer Sims of Baird; sisters Billie Medford of Stamford and Johnie Riley of Snyder; grandchildren Ryan, Blake, Josh and Jeremey; and six great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her best friend, Linda Lawrence.

Graveside services will be Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird.
